About Me
I’m Erin - private practice owner, licensed clinical social worker, writer and consultant!
I am the owner and founder of Taproot Therapy, a group practice in New York City. My practice specializes in working with anxiety and depressive disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. CBT and DBT are evidence-based practices shown to support anxiety, mood regulation, eating disorders, and depressed symptoms. I am also certified in Perinatal Mental Health, specializing in recurrent pregnancy loss, and I am a board member of the Miscarriage Hope Desk.
I have been in private practice for 10 years, and I love every minute of it! I began working with other therapists starting in private practice five years ago as a consultant and clinical supervisor.
I am a Certified Daring Way Facilitator, a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. This practice focuses on vulnerability and shame resilience through a values lens. I am also certified in Perinatal Mental Health, specializing in recurrent pregnancy loss. Both practices focus on mindfulness, self-compassion grief and loss.
My consulting sessions integrate a process-oriented approach, meaning the clinician brings to session what feels important to discuss, and through discussion, clinicians leave sessions with tools to continue the therapeutic process throughout the week.
Before becoming a therapist, I was a writer and a journalist. As I continue to grow in my private practice, I strive for finding time to write, both professionally and therapeutically. I often offer therapeutic writing groups for clinicians.
I also have a podcast, which I love making! You can listen to my podcast here or wherever you get your podcasts.
